Founded in 2014 by current manager Jonothan Mason and assistant manager Chris Farrell as Border City FC, we played in yellow home colours.
As the 2014-2015 progressed and after several committee meetings we decided to change name to AFC Carlisle and play in home colours of sky blue and navy. This was so visiting clubs would know who we were and where we are from also representing the blue colours of our professional neighbours Carlisle United FC.
The club is affiliated to the Cumberland FA and competes in the Westmorland Association Football League and have done since its formation. The club began in division 4 but after one season the leagues management decided to remove a league and so the following 2015-2016 season AFC Carlisle began in division 3. The club have just recently won promotion to division 2 after finishing division 3 runners up in the 2016/17.
We have develpoped a youth section of the club. In 2019 we introduced an under 8 and under 10 teams. In 2020 this resulted in a further two teams, under 7 and 8's.
